Fields of activity

We strive for creating a dynamic research environment, which is why we work in both national as well as international settings and why we also undertake contractual research projects for governmental institutions as well as private companies.

The specialist fields of the Department are centred on disciplines that form the engineering and scientific basis for the development of buildings, comprising load-bearing structures and building services as well as bridge structures and other civil engineering structures. Furthermore, hydraulic and hydrological problems in relation to environmental plants and projects, physical geography mainly aimed at environmental and resource issues, and geotechnical and flow-mechanical problems in civil engineering structures such as pipelines, harbour and canal structures, offshore structures, wind turbines and wave energy plants are central fields for the Department.
